While Google has yet to completely take over the Internet, they certainly have their own language for their products and services.
While we can’t get you a private tour of the Googleplex, we can guide you through Google-land. We’ve compiled a list of all the Google terms you need to know to be able to navigate all of Google’s products and services.
Why do you need a Google Glossary?
When I first moved to Boston, MA from the Midwest, I understood the words people were saying, but sometimes following the conversation was a challenge because of the context and heavy accent.
Example: MA
MA resident: “I was in Wussster, drinking from the bubblah then I realized I had a dunks card and banged a uey out of there to get some iced coffee.”
Me: “….okay??”
Don’t believe me? Take a look at how people from outside the state attempt to pronounce Massachusetts town names:
Going back to Google, you may know the words the tech giant is using but if you don’t understand the context the conversation is going to be difficult to follow.
Example: Google
Google: “A well thought out, keyword enhanced Google My Business profile will help get you more pluses, provide another directory listing and boost your PageRank but first you need a verification code.”
Business owner: “….okay??”
So you don’t feel like a tourist in Massachusetts, LocalVox put together a Google Glossary that you can use to make sure you get the most out of Google’s great local online marketing products.
